About David Flores

Great, just what the world needs, another social media consultant! But this one understands that true power in social media comes from the connections people create with each other and with the brands/institutions they interact with online.

I also know that this hasn’t changed much since the dawn of online communication. I moderated online discussions at Prodigy which I joined after a stint as a print journalist and soon found out how much people wanted to share of their lives with one another and with the service itself.

On Prodigy, people sparred, fought, loved and lived their lives at 9600 baud. What’s different today - besides the connecting speeds - is the number of ways people can interact and the growing number of platforms where they can do so.

Since then I’ve kicked off and managed online communities and social media for Everyday Health, TV Guide and The Wall Street Journal. In addition I have been a speaker on the subject on how editorial and social media converge.

This blog is where I’ll share what I’ve learned and what I think about these subjects, especially the human factor. But, it wouldn’t be true social media without your comments, so please contact me and let me know what you think.

About

The mothership of all my thoughts about social media, life and the world at large. Thoughts here bear no reflection on employers, family or anyone who's hand I've shook. There, doesn't that feel better?
